Caspad is far and wide the largest region in Crypta, an underwater world that, spans billions of creatures, from close to the surface to far past where sunlight can reach. So it wasn't that there was no need for a leader before Magil, it was that leadership was previously impossible. As far as even she herself knows, Magil is the only creature of her kind. Some even say she was born by a miraculous combination of seawater and crypto. But with true originality often comes loneliness, prompting Magil to travel around Caspad as she grew, learning, adapting, and becoming the ultimate authority on the region, from the shallows to the deep. It's widely accepted that Magil is the only known creature to not only have seen all of the region, but also interacted with its every culture and learned all its secrets. In fact, she had been honored with the title of 'Protector of Caspad's Crypto' long before she was called upon to represent them in battle. As reliable as the tides. As powerful as a tsunami. As mysterious as Caspad itself. Magil has the strength, skills, and knowledge of every type of creature in Caspad. That must be why she also has every creature in Caspad's full confidence as their leader. And while she cares for the whole of Crypta and knows what's at stake if the planet falls, she will always look out for Caspad first and foremost. Magil is everything we love and fear about water.
